Experience the Upsides of Stress While Avoiding Its Downsides
The negative consequences of long-term stress are well known and include fatigue, exhaustion leading to burnout, impaired decision-making, lack of focus and awareness, impulsiveness and poor emotional regulation.
Well-meaning wellbeing approaches encourage shorter hours, stress avoidance and less pressure. That may be realistic for some occupations but for high performance professionals and entrepreneurs, the gap between theory and practice is insurmountable.
A modern, practical approach to stress enables those working in high stakes environments to avoid and mitigate the downsides of stress while utilising the established benefits of acute stress including:
- Enhanced cognition
- Better focus and alertness
- Resilience
- Stronger immunity.
Monitor, Navigate and Recover
Our Monitor, Navigate and Recover 3 stage process will
- Accurately identity and understand your stress triggers;
- Equip you with strategies to navigate stress and;
- Help you efficiently rebuild and recover during the day while you work, and at night while you sleep.
At the core of our coaching philosophy is the understanding that one size does not fit all i.e., individuals respond differently to the range of available solutions. We also understand that your time is limited and consequently many of the approaches we recommend require minimal time and effort on your part and can be easily integrated into your daily routine.
Stage 1 – Monitoring and Awareness
Physiological awareness is central to developing a rest and recovery plan. This is done through the use of cutting-edge, discrete wearable technology, used by athletes and tier 1 military, that measures key biometrics including Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and resting heart rate. The data is translated into stress and recovery scores that provides the insights necessary to create a customised plan for managing stress and enhancing recovery in the short and long term.
We also encourage our clients to engage in a subjective awareness practice such as record keeping of their daily experience of stress, energy and sleep. Combining objective monitoring via technology with subjective awareness provides a reliable comprehensive picture of stress and recovery patterns.
Stage 2 – Stress Navigation and Mitigation
This stage involves a mix of research backed, easy to implement, pre-emptive and real-time tools to navigate and mitigate the deleterious effects of stress. These include:
- Mindset
- Managing self-talk
- Breath practices
- Discrete wearable technology that induces states of calm and alertness.
Stage 3 – Rapid Recovery
Balancing stress with immediate recovery is critical. Once the stress event has ended, shifting out of fight, freeze and flight mode into recharge and recovery (sympathetic to parasympathetic) avoids long-term, negative physical and mental health consequences. We provide a range of proven recovery strategies that embrace mental strategies used by elite athletes and special forces warriors, modern technology and Ancient practices. These include
- Fast recharge tactics for the working day.
- Breathwork practices for instantly winding down and de-stressing.
- Sleep optimization including identification of sleep disruptors, falling asleep faster and achieving greater REM and deep sleep.
- Recommendations for lifestyle changes
- Resonance and coherence practices.
- The use of light and sound to help you de-stress and sleep better.
- Rest and recovery technology.
